Sponsorships available for Orphans in Fairfield Baptist Mission Orphanage, Paynesville, Maud Town, Liberia
|
The Fairfield Baptist Mission Orphanage is located just outside of Monrovia in Paynesville, Maud Town Liberia on the west coast of Africa. The country experienced a disastrous 15-year civil war that ended just 4 years ago. People still talk of the horrors of that war. Many buildings have bullet holes in them and the country is struggling to recover.

The orphanage was one of the few that stayed open through the war. It supports about 60 orphans. Many of them lost their parents in the war. Their current living conditions are trying at best. The orphans live in rustic buildings that have no windows or screens, and malaria from the mosquitoes is common. The orphanage has no running water - only one well that is hand-pumped. There is intermittent electricity being supplied by a single generator. The food is cooked in an open pot that sits atop cinder blocks in the courtyard of the orphanage.
Most of the orphans have one or two pairs of clothes and maybe one pair of shoes. School supplies are hard to come by and medical access is also limited. Amazingly, there is joy on the faces of these orphans as they sing to our Father God each morning.
